Here a a few things you can do to keep your new bathroom clean.
Make sure you clean the bathroom thoroughly every week.
Get the vacuum out and get rid of all dust.
Remember to take your plugs/traps out and get rid of trapped hairs/grime.
Microfibre clothes are a great way to scrub your bathroom clean.
Our tip is not to use bleach but a splash of fairy liquid and warm water on your brassware (taps, shower, etc) and silicone - your new brassware can peel and silicone discolour due to harsh chemicals in bleach products.
Obviously your new toilet needs to be bleached to get rid of stubborn nasty germs (keep the toilet seat lid lifted so the bleach doesn’t discolour the seat).
Anywhere where water gets must be wiped down to prolong the life of silicones, in particular in niche shelfs and baths/shower trays.
If water is left on surfaces this can cause a build up of moisture and discolour the silicone.
TRY BLEACH FREE ALTERNATIVE PRODUCTS - there are many bleach free products you can buy that are not only environmentally friendly but also non harmful to you or anybody else who uses the bathroom.
STOP MOULD GROWING - Mould grow in warm moist environments.
You’ll most often find mould growing on silicone or grout in any wet areas (in particular shower areas).
Prevention is the best way to stop mould growth and the best prevention is to make sure you have adequate ventilation.
Make sure you have a sufficient enough extractor fan (remember, your extractor needs the air in the room to be replaced with “new” air for it to work correctly - open a window when your extractor is on).
Along with an extractor, dry as much water as possible in wet areas, if water is left on grout and silicone, mould will grow from bacteria that is left there.
