Having a new bathroom? Don't know how to plan it?

Planning

Everything You Need To Know About Planning A Bathroom

Work out what you need in your new bathroom - The priorities - Do you need to remove the bath and have a shower tray to help with a disability?, Do you need more storage space? - These are the sort of question you should be asking yourself.

A big family bathroom might have a shower and a bath, whilst having a on-suite bathroom renovated, you'll probably only require a loo and possibly a shower to!

Next, choose a scheme, what colours would you like - recently we've noticed a big increase in the colour Grey.

Forget your current bathroom, but instead vision what you would like your new bathroom to be like?

Hotel style, complete bespoke (Your own design), or even if it doesn't bother you, ask us to do the design, may of our customer already do!

The Bathroom Layout

In Rochdale, bathrooms are pretty consistent, we generally don't advise our customers to move the toilet etc... Because Rochdale bathrooms are normally small bathrooms, you sometimes don't have the opportunity to move the toilet, even if you do, it can rack up the cost.

If you feel your layout needs a change ask us for our advice, it's what we're here to do.

We've had customer change their bathroom door to a sliding bathroom doors - gives a  lot more space to manoeuvre in the bathroom.

If you're thinking of changing the layout, no problem, let us know where you want everything to go, and we'll let you know if it's "do-able".

We always ask our customer to keep in mind when changing the layout.

Maybe you're thinking of taking the bath out, but what if you decide to sell the house? Will it affect the value of the house? possibly...But it could also increase the value. How? - It all depends on the buyers needs. If you have a shower replacing the bath then it's making life easier for somebody less able.

Inspiration

Inspiration for your bathroom is important!

We always ask our customers if they have ideas for there new bathroom, some say "yes" other have no idea and ask us for inspiration... You can always flick through our Projects page to take a look at some bathroom inspiration.

With the internet, it's very resourceful to find a bathroom you love... you might only like the bathroom tap, but hey, thats still inspiration taken, right?

Speak to friends, family or a neighbour who you know who has had a bathroom renovation.

Find out if they had any issues, what they would change, do they like the new bathroom they've had, is it easy to move around.

All these factors are super important.

Use Your Space Wisely

The average bathroom size in Rochdale is around 1.7 Metres x 2.0 Metres x 2.4 Metres High - That means, a lot of bathrooms in Rochdale are considered to be Small - Medium sized bathrooms.

So keep in mind when choosing products (We'll obviously help) - Yes, it would be nice to have a 'His & Hers basin', but lets be realistic, it's not going to fit.

Most bathrooms in Rochdale would be lucky to accommodate a bath and a shower, let alone 'His & Hers basin'.

Ventilation - So, so, so Important!

Opening the window in the bathroom isn't enough these days.

With new wood (MDF - Mainly) bathroom furniture becoming the trend, it's very important to have the right ventilation to get rid of condensation.

As everyone knows, wood and water, Don't go well together.

Customers are generally put of ventilation, because they think:

-It doesn't even work

-I never turn the fan on anyway

-The fan is too noisy

Well, good news! They do work, Some fans can now come on automatically if they sense to much humidity and lastly, They're much quieter than they used to be.

Storage

Who doesn't love storage!

Get those tacky looking shampoo bottles of the shower tray and into a tall boy unit...Or even a wall niche (shelf).

Mirror cabinets are super handy too - Some even have built in electric toothbrush chargers and bluetooth for your music.

Consider Your Bathroom Lighting

They're a loads of options for lighting in your new bathroom, Cool White, Warm white, LED's, COB's, so many options.

But keep in mind, you don't want to be woken up by the bright lights when someone goes to the toilet in the middle of the night.

We suggest to get a mirror with a light and use just the light from the mirror, for when the bathroom is in use at early hours.

Don't worry, there bright enough to know what you're doing.

Tiles Are Great, We Love Them!

There are so many tiles available today and in all sorts of shapes, colours, patterns and sizes.

Feature walls look great and definitely make the bathroom look Hotel-Esque.

Try not to choose tiles with 'a lot going on' for small bathrooms, It can make the bathroom look overloaded.

Have A Budget In Mind

Have a budget in mind. Why? At La Bocca Bathrooms, we can supply a bathroom from £300.00 all the way up to £20.000 (Depending on products used) Having a budget in mind will help us guide you to a perfect bathroom within your budget, by choosing the right brochures and products for you to look at, rather than waste your time looking at products that won't suit the budget.

Survive The Work

A full bathroom rip out generally takes around 8 Days of hard work.

So if you've only got one bathroom, you may find it difficult to sane. Your bathroom will be out of bounds for the majority of the 8 days (You'll still have the toilet).

So it might be best to get in touch with local friends or family and ask to "Borrow" their bathroom whist your bathroom renovation takes place.

If you have a gym membership, Great! You'll be glad your still signed up...Just hope they have Shower facilities (Most do).
